Darth Paradox
Sora and I just put together a scrum-style burndown chart for wedding planning. The current sprint lasts until three weeks before the wedding, and contains just over 90 ideal hours of work. (We had an estimation meeting earlier in the evening.)

I'm such a nerd. But it's actually helping us quite a bit, in the "not stressing out" category. We can get everything done with an average of an hour and a half of work a day...

Scrum is such a useful tool for things like that! Good luck with the wedding-planning! =)

I was unfamiliar with the idea of the scrum, aside from the rugby scrum, which I don't think is a useful planning tool for a wedding, but after reading up on it, I really like the idea of "pigs" and "chickens" (though I doubt "chickens" like being told that they're "chickens" in the model).

The main benefit to us is having a burndown chart and regular checkups on our progress, and a "sprint" with a definite end during which we aim to accomplish all of the tasks listed. There are other parts of scrum that are irrelevant to our particular situation.

Wedding planning feels like a rugby scrum every once in a while too, but as yet I haven't gotten stomped in the face with a cleated shoe, so I think I'm still ahead in the game.

Right, those aspects make sense. I just thought the pigs and chickens roles were amusing, but also sound like they could be important in event planning.

As long as wedding planning doesn't start to feel like a hockey game, I think you're probably okay.
