Porn industry wants $5 billion federal bailout|
I guess they're looking for some economic stimulation, too. When so many people are having money troubles, sales tend to go limp, and a lot of these businesses are facing long odds on whether they'll survive the year or go down like so many other companies. Though I do find it strange that an industry that has so stiffly resisted governmental interference is now so eager to get in bed with the government. But I suppose I can't really blame them. The economy sucks, after all.
This almost sounds like an Onion article. Or a political commentary.
I find that especially stunning since I seem to recall that porn was one of the first things to make money on the Intertubes. And they even note in the article that "Flynt and Francis concede the industry itself is in no financial danger — DVD sales have slipped over the past year, but Web traffic has continued to grow."
The economy sucks, after all.
The entire thing is very, very punny. And you know what they say:
Puns are bad.
But poetry is verse.
Well, they need to fire the guy who has the head job in the porn industry. No amount of money shot into an industry is going to help it survive if it is badly managed.
Though I do find it strange that an industry that has so stiffly resisted governmental interference is now so eager to get in bed with the government.
Like, say, the financial industry?
The porn industry has been taking it in the ass for years. With the advent of readily available free internet porn, sellers of X-rated DVDs are bending over backwards to try to make a profit.
For niche markets such as scat, it's been a crap shoot.
I... I can't compete. I'm just going to have to bookmark this entry. My game is just nothing tonight. Besides, I pun better on music discussions, but only with the right people.
But is sucking on the government teat really a solution that has staying power?
