Feel free to swing by Madison - drop by anytime!
...heh, yeah, I didn't think so. Hope you both have a fabulous visit with the family, though. :D
If only. I promise we'll visit sometime.
I started playing Phoenix Wright on the plane. Whee! Case 2 was awesome, and I have to say, [spoiler] fills out [spoiler]'s outfit quite well. :D
I don't quite get what the deal is with Edgeworth, though. Everyone seems to think he's awesome, but he just strikes me as a pompous ass.
*laughs* Doesn't she, though? I have some thoughts about Phoenix and the two [spoiler]s, mostly in a "God wouldn't that be a fun and yet thoroughly fucked up idea for a talented writer to play with," but I need to organize them better before I post them.
I finished the game myself this afternoon. Still kinda reeling. Case 5 is looooong, FYI.
Everyone seems to think he's awesome, but he just strikes me as a pompous ass.
Say that again after Case 4. Seriously, I was underwhelmed by Edgeworth at first too (and I went in predisposed to liking him!), but after Case 4...for what is basically a puzzle/adventure game, you're pretty much drowned in plot and character development. Everyone is, in fact, on to something. :D
(I have negative right to criticize *you* for not visiting, of course. I'll see what we can do on our end, but something tells me I'm going to be spending too much time in LA next year to venture further north...) :Þ
I'll just say this here and warn you both at once: since Case 5 was written and included for the DS remake, it doesn't flow perfectly between game 1 and game 2. Many people consider it to be 'non-canon'. But! It's still enjoyable to play through (and contains one of the most slash-tactular 'present item' puzzles EVER), and I don't see this as harming either of your opinions of it.
Eeee! 2, 2, 2 times the Phoenix in this thread, here.
, I'm not going to explicitly spoil anything here, but you may want to look away anyway if you're particularly sensitive to that kind of thing...Case 5 was written and included for the DS remake, it doesn't flow perfectly between game 1 and game 2.
I guess that explains the false ending after Case 4. I just thought they were trying to put one over on us. :DMany people consider it to be 'non-canon'.
Those people can choke on a dick. :D I have great love for Case 4 for obvious reasons, but Case 5 was amazing
from both plot and puzzle standpoints. Given a certain part of the ending, though, um, how to say this? I can maybe see why, depending on who is performing what job function in game 2, parts of Case 5 and the ending might not fit, necessarily. But I doubt anything was outright contradicted
...so to speak. :)contains one of the most slash-tactular 'present item' puzzles EVER
And in case you didn't see the imagery yourself, they have the defendant BEAT YOU OVER THE HEAD WITH IT later on. Sigh. Reminds me, though -- darthparadox
, definitely stay away from this link until you finish -- I came across this and sorta cracked up. It's pretty much everything you wanted to say to me
, isn't it? (Incidentally her take on the game -- the summary text at the top -- is much the same as mine, although as I mentioned in a comment higher-up in this thread, I'm not writing off het entirely...)
Well, yeah. Nothing is outright contradicted, especially from a character standpoint, it's just that there's a bit of a plotting hiccup in 2 with regards to 1-5, and Phoenix's viewpoint in 2 doesn't take into account anything that happened in 1-5. That's mostly it. I doubt the non-canon claims stem from 'OMG totally gey', because, uh, well, that's really a part of the amusement of the whole Phoenix Wright experience. :P
I am really amused, though, that Celen's using the same manga for a userpic that's even more blatant than mine. If you haven't already seen it, check the 4 links at the bottom of the page, here
. I'm particularly fond of Maya's Gourdy obsession in the last one. :)
Nico pulled me out of the bathroom (bathing the cat) to look at that LJ post. That's...that's quality, right there. :) Reminds me of the forum goer who posted that, as they were playing the game, the phrase 'I wish I knew how to quit you' popped into their head and wouldn't leave. :)
Ah! Thanks for pointing that out, I'd been wondering what the source for those pics was. One of them made it to 4chan the other night, but I hadn't seen the other three...despite being on that page to download the fan-translated manga earlier today! Heh.
Happy to entertain you. :) Poor unwashed kitty...
GAH. Want game 2 now. (With bonus PW stylus
, no less!) Hardest 23 days of my life...Ok, not really at all, but after the semester I've had? Patience is not so much on the radar.
No problem. :) The links are a bit more obscured, really, compared to the other links on the page.
Kitty's clean now, thankfully. He was a bit whiny when I was cleaning in between his grubby little toes, though. :P The cool thing about hairless cats is that the 'wet cat' look only lasts about 5 minutes, tops.
We ended up having to wait in that neighborhood of time for the Japanese version to get released, so I feel your pain.
Say that again after Case 4.
Too sympathetic. ;) My preferred version of him is The Middle Of Case 3. In particular, I think I was sold at the line "... the prosecution has no relevant objections to make at this time, Your Honor."
It's funnier in context.
Bwahahahahaha. I got there last night, and yes, it is indeed hilarious in context.
Not quite done with Case 3, but yeah, I'm starting to understand.
Best holiday wishes to you and Sora! Hope your travels in the Midwest are pleasant, white, and not too butt-chillingly cold.
I can't imagine Sora not getting along well with anyone she meets. I'm glad your family is opening their arms to her. Best to both of you!
Thanks! The weather here is just like Seattle at the moment - 40s-ish and rainy. I'm pleasantly surprised for the moment, though I was hoping to take Sora sledding at some point. (She's never been!)
And indeed, Sora's gotten along magnificently with my family. It's been a fun day.
Hey Chris! Long time no see. Don't know if you're doing anything for new year's eve, but I'm having a bit of a soiree both that night and the next day (for the rose bowl). You and your lady friend are more than welcome! The theme is Masquerade of Roses, so coming in red or adorned with roses or a mask is encouraged! Hope to see you, but if not, have a great time while you're in the area and safe travels back to Seattle!
3265 Columbus Court, Ann Arbor 48103 (building 9, don't park in a covered spot!)
p.s. I think you should do some cover art for HP and the Deathly Hallows :)
Awesome. Thanks for the invite! Our flight back to Seattle leaves at about 11 in the morning, so I won't be able to hang around for the Rose Bowl. (Luckily, I should be able to catch the second half when I get home.) But I'll definitely see about dropping by your place for New Year's Eve. (I still don't know what my family's plans are quite yet, so I have to figure that all out.)
As for the cover art... we'll see? It might be fun to take on.
