A quick note [Apr. 18th, 2006|02:47 pm]
Darth Paradox
Apparently April 18th is the best day ever. At least according to some of my friends. So:

* Happy birthday, Annick!
* Good luck on your interview, Rachel!
* Go Wings!

Back to work for me, now.

One more thing, Mr. Computer Guy. And I'm not crazy. And I wouldn't post this on LJ if I had your email, but I don't. Anyway, I am sitting here typing in a word document. And I hear this wierd noise (i'm working on a mac ibook G4 that's not even a year old) like squeaking or screeching or bugs communicating. Very softly, like...squealing. I realize that it's the noise of the letters or functions as I use them in the document. It's not the keys themselves, but the act of the letters and spaces and deletes across the document. When I type in any other program, I hear nothing but the click clack of the keys, but in word, the letters squeal. I am not crazy, but do you have any idea what this could be?

What happens when you mute the sound? Is there a way to turn the speakers off, or are they internal?

I have to wonder if your sound buffer is picking up memory from the keystrokes in Word or something. It's entirely possible that Word's being sloppy with its memory allocation. When I plug my headphones into my work laptop, I hear a low-level squealing/static no matter what I do, but it seems to be affected by things like mouse movements, even when the sound is muted.

Have you tried rebooting? That's about all I can really offer at the moment. First, though, close Word, make sure the process is good and dead, and then restart it and see if the problem persists. That really is weird, but by no means impossible.

Also, my email is my LJ name at gmail. Just so you know.
