Who's planning on going to any of these conventions?
* SakuraCon, March 24-26
* Norwescon, April 13-16
* San Diego Comic Con, July 20-23
* PAX, August 25-27
I'm starting to work out hotel arrangements for some of these. (SakuraCon is down the street from my apartment, so I think we're good on that count.)
Wild horses couldn't keep me away from PAX. Don't know about the other ones--SDCC depends on $$ and I don't have a particular vested interest in SakuraCon or Norwescon.
We've got a hotel room reserved for PAX. You're welcome to join us.
It's going to be $85/night, split however many ways.
Oh, man... SDCC '06 was to be the Comic-con we all (you, me, Josh, etc) agreed we'd try to make, after many years of either skipping out or not being able to go. I think we assumed we'd all have our lives in order by then. It sucks that I doubt I'll be able to make it. :/ Josh still might, I think. I think he also made jokes once about paying my way there, but unless he can front Sheree and he won the Canadian lottery or something crazy, I'm assuming nothing would come of that. (Rightly so, I'd feel guilty as all hell anyway...)
That said, I don't see myself at a con in 2006. If SakuraCon is still in your immediate vicinity in 2007, though... well, let's just say I'll be talking to miang

*laughs* If you want my permission, not that you'd need it, I say go for it. Me, I'm unlikely to have my spring break fall that late in March, and SakuraCon looks awfully
shoujo and full of bad cosplay
for my tastes.
If anyone needs me this year, I'll be in the corner praying for E3.
Right. Well, I live about four or five blocks from the Washington State Convention and Trade Center. So, um, SakuraCon's likely to hang around, I think. I'll let you know.
And don't worry about SDCC. I think we were expecting that the brief luck you'd had in finding a decent job would actually have continued. 2007, though - we'll see about that.
On the other hand, I'd have no trouble with offering you two space of some sort in our hotel room at SDCC06. But I suppose the plane fare and the admission itself still makes it an unlikely proposition...
*raises her hand*
Ooooh Ooooh I am definitely doing Norwes con and would love to get in on a hotel room...am even happy to just have a space to stash my bag...anyway, def count me in :)
Unfortunately Sakura Con is the same weekend as SEAF...
Definitely. I'll be making a reservation soon, and I'll let you know about details.
Hello? Comic Con! We have the CA hook up, brother! It's going to be so awesome, it'll be geektastic.
Indeed. I'm looking into hotel space right now. I'm pretty sure I've gathered that you'll be fine in that respect, but let me know if you're interested.
No conventions for me this year. Of the ones you listed Howard will be at San Diego Comic con. We're also discussing the possiblity of Emerald City Comic Con for him.
Ooh. Well, for what it's worth, his appearance at ECCC would be pretty good motivation for me to go, at least to check it out for a day. There aren't too many other people there I'm interested in, but maybe some of the panels would be good.
And I know the territory - the event center is basically across the street from my office building.
(SakuraCon is down the street from my apartment, so I think we're good on that count.)
Apart from the fact that it would be a stupid waste of money, I would recommend staying somewhere else for that one too. For me, when some multi-day event like that is on I like to shut out the real world completely.
Eh. I'm pretty good at shutting out the real world on my own terms. It'll help if (like the plans we've been bandying about) other people are staying at my apartment for the con anyway.
