Friday, Sora met me after work. We spent a generally quiet evening together - watched some Battlestar Galactica (I'm quite impressed so far, the miniseries and two episodes in) and some hockey, and went to a newish Asian restaurant a few blocks from my apartment.
Saturday was a bit more busy, mostly errands and chores and such. Laundry, dishes, and a trip out to Kirkland and Bothell for Sora to do some stuff, which sadly did not include setting Cingular on fire. Burn.
And then, while Sora was out doing that, I noticed an IRC message from lady_absinthe, inviting me over to her (and Pi and Vermilion's) house up in Everett. Sora returned, I bounced the idea off of her, and away we went! Spontaneity is fun. We chatted, played some Apples to Apples and Fluxx, and ate some rather hot chili made by Verm. I also saw the_raif and magneticcheeks again (but together for the first time! Aww.), JustBob again as well (after having met him briefly when I crashed BoardieCon - ever gone up against a military man in laser tag? It's a reeeal good way to get your ass kicked), Bemlet (Pi's brother, who I'd not yet met, but vaguely knew from #schlock_mercenary), and chalain, finally. I've known him for a while (though admittedly not well) over #s_m, and he happened to be visiting from Utah, on a business trip which just happened to give him a free weekend in Seattle. So, we basically had the vast majority of the #schlock_mercenary core in one house. It was... quite an experience, to say the least. Loads of fun! Also, Sora got to try a nifty drink with chai liqueur in it. Yummy. We got back rather late from that.
Sunday was the Super Bowl party at shardavarius's apartment. That was fun, mostly due to hanging out with nifty people, including xaandria and daggart. The game was a bit irritating, but the commercials were amusing, and we managed to entertain ourselves with vast quantities of tickle fights and such. Also, during halftime and after the game, Fluxx and Apples to Apples. We tried a variant where only red cards were used - the judge picked one red card, and everyone else submitted red cards that associated with the card the best. It was an interesting variant, but I think next time we should have larger hands - say, 10 cards - because it's a lot harder to do the noun-only association.
I also came up with an idea for another Fluxx goal - "Losing My Mind". The player that loses possession of The Brain wins. Losing possession means going from having it in front of you to not having it in front of you, whether it gets stolen, scrambled away, trashed, or even discarded as a result of obeying a keeper limit. I'll write it up sometime, and see how it plays!
That's all for now. Back to work for me.
(Also: new icon! Compliments of your local monolithic daddy state.)
