Darth Paradox
[mood |contemplativecontemplative]

So Saturday was Scatterplot's 2nd anniversary, and it passed with no notice. I was gone all day. I've just been so busy these days.

It makes me sad to see Scatterplot falling by the wayside as I try to keep my academic affairs in order. But there's nothing else I can do. I'm wondering, though, if I should just declare this a "hiatus" and get back to it some other time. I don't know.

It doesn't help, of course, that Stefan's been just as busy as me. He's the one that usually keeps me somewhat on schedule.

I just don't know where to go from here.

aww don't go on hiatus. maybe change your updates from 3x/week to once a week? I'd hate ot see you completely put the comic on hold. I know you're really busy with classes and stuff, but my honest opinion of people taking "hiatus" from something is that they might not get back to it, and i'd hate to see that happen to scatterplot. Anything i've ever gone on hiatus from something (emailing lists, etc) i've always put off my coming back to it because of time issues, work issues, whatever. no matter what you choose to do, i will continue to be supportive of you, but you can bet your ass if you say "i'm going on hiatus" i'm going to bug you to go back to it.

ps: i'm still waiting for a better scatterplot icon! :p

I've made like a gazillion (basically just cropped images) icons for the new cast page. ^_^ I'll show them to you.

Also, I totally agree. Anna brought up super points.

And dude! Stop beating yourself up about it! You work hard enough as it is! Don't feel pressured to update..just update when you can. Leave it open so when you can update, you do. =)

I'm still working on those icons!! XD

I agree with Anna as well. Try changing the update schedule to twice a week. If that's still too much, aim for once a week. If you find that you are still super busy, then go on hiatus though. School work is far more important. First though, I would try just cutting back on the number of comics per week that you're aiming for.
And for you loyal fans, SOME scatterplot (no matter how sporatic it is) is better than no scatterplot. But, Chris's well being is more imporatant than all of that. Oh boy, I sure am babbling. I hope I at least made my point clear.

*nods in agreement*

Like Anna said, the only reason, really, why Charles has such cool facial expressions and what not and why the icons never fail to crack me up because they're so wacky and the art is amazing and consistent and just COOL is you. XD

chris knows i know a lot of artists and cartoonists. and i know i've said to him *multiple* times, that out of all the comics i look at, and all the art i look at, his is among the most impressive i have ever seen. and i'm not saying that because he's one of my best friends. It truly is remarkable.

I agree too. The art is awesome and it always makes me smile.
I think I will become a Chris groupie and go to Michigan and follow him around and be like "I made him hamburgers!" and "He's been to 2 of my houses!" and people will think I'm so cool which is true because I am and then people will think I'm crazy which is not all true because I'm not all crazy and then...
Stop laughing!

What to do?

Whatever decision you and Stefan make about the comic is a decision you both have to be happy with.

It's obvious you guys both have talent and that this comic will survive in some form or another, even if it needs periodic breaks.

The only thing is to make sure you let us all know what your decisions are, and sooner rather than later. We can handle it.

Chrisssss... It was my fault the anniversary passed without notice.. I feel bad now. Anyway, I'm sorry for that.. Just.. de-stress, and figure out what you want to do with the comic. You'll have a guilt trip if you cut back on how many times it comes out (or so you make it appear..) but with going into grad school and working next semester (and I'm assuming you still want me around... ;)) it might be the only option. I'll try to ummm... not take up so much time in the future, so you have a chance to get Scatterplot stuffs done :)

I'm down to about once-weekly at this point, I just need to admit it and say it's okay that I have to do that, or go on hiatus, really.

Really, though, there are at this point more important demands on my time - yourself included. :D
