Today, a U.S. District Court judge ruled that the NSA warrantless wiretapping program is in violation of the First and Fourth Amendments to the Constitution, as well as (not quite so importantly) of the FISA statute that established the court that the NSA was supposed to be asking for warrants all this time. The ruling also contains an injunction to immediately cease the warrantless wiretapping.

Appeals are imminent, but for today, I feel a little more secure in my freedoms as a citizen of this country.

News story, and analysis from a former 1st Amendment litigator and author.

Amen. Now, let's hope the NSA actually goes along with the notion.

Oh my god. I was subjected to the Fox News coverage of the ruling today. It hurt. Bad.

Yegods. I suppose it was full of pundits proclaiming that this spells doom for the weak-on-security Democrats, that the ruling judge is an "activist judge", and that everyone involved with the ruling hates America.

Fuckheads.
