...Fine, have some real news.

Last weekend was just packed with fun. Saturday, I got a Utilikilt! It's awesome. People came over for partying in the evening. Board games and Chinese food, mostly. Mmm. After that, Sora and I stayed up until probably 5 AM, her finishing Suikoden V and me working on layout for the Scatterplot book.

Sunday was... an off day. We slept rather late, and spent the day lounging around. Sora started Kingdom Hearts (which she still finds exceedingly weird, due to the game constantly saying her name), and I finished up the main part of the book layout. For the first book, anyway. At this point, I have to put in all the non-comic stuff - title page, introduction, that sort of thing. Also, I need to design a cover. That'll be interesting.

Monday, we went to the Pacific Science Center, and saw the video games exhibit! Lots of fun; lots of video games to play. Whee! Also, beautiful butterflies. <3 morphos.

Tuesday was, of course, July 4th. We started off the day with a gaming party at Richard's (who is a friend we met at Norwescon). A bit of a smaller affair than the ones I usually run, but it was a lot of fun. Discovered a new game called Aladdin's Dragons that I'll really need to consider picking up sometime.

After that, we headed over to seorin and iris_of_ether's apartment for pizza, Pirates of the Caribbean (which they hadn't seen before!), and fireworks. From their balcony, we could see fireworks all around the south part of Lake Washington. It was wonderful. It was also hilarious, watching some people from the next building over trying to set off fireworks - but they'd shoot into the sky, and then just kind of fizzle out at the top of their arc. It was sad, but hilarious.

Thankfully, given the way I was feeling, this was a three-day week at work. Bleh.

So! Today we get to see PotC2. I've heard mixed reviews about it, but I fully expect to enjoy it. Not least of which because I'll be going in costume...

I'm currently working with Sentry Electric on the Woodbine horse track renovation in Toronto. Excavation is being done by a company called Sora. They're particularly well known for cutting the cables we lay underground.

Oh, and are you sure the next building's fireworks weren't supposed to do that? Those kinds of incendiaries are pretty common around here, probably due to cost. And that sucks, 'cause I like the explodey ones, too.

(Need to find a group...)

Although we don't play D&D proper you'd be more than welcome to join us in our games sometime. We could either start a local game or you could join us on the next IRC game.

That might be nifty, but I know next to nothing about Mage. (I used to play a fair amount of Werewolf back in 1997, though. I dunno how much the WOD system has changed since then...)

I was actually contemplating starting either a D&D or GURPS campaign myself, just starting out with a store-bought module to familiarize myself (and the players) with the system.

Gaming is gaming, the difference is just in the little rules and in what ways the dice take effect. Most of our gaming minimalizes dice and we stray towards rules-light systems, meaning there are fewer rules to learn. WoD has changed significantly, but then again most rules-light systems change fairly significantly from group to group even when the system doesn't change.

I guess what I'm trying to say is if you're interested you should probably give it a shot. You're certainly welcome to read through the logs of the current or past games if you're bored. It'll give you an idea of the feel the games have, and if you're reading the first game there will be lots of rules explanations and you can literally learn from our mistakes :) http://seorin.dyndns.org/mage/
